Departmental History

English has been taught in this college since its inception in 1985. The Department offers three years degree for the various undergraduate courses like B.A, B.Sc., B. Com. and BCA. One of the major responsibilities of the department is the General English course. At present, it is one of the largest department in the college, with more than 3000 students enrolled for various undergraduate courses. The department also offers special “bridge” courses and Communicative English Programmes from time to time.
The department organises extra-curricular activities, in addition to lectures and interactive sessions with eminent national scholars. The department has been able to nurture the talents of the students. At present, the department is running with an aim to inculcate the language skills in the students so that they can compete well in the present scenario of economic liberalisation and globalisation.

Facilities Available

The department is housed on the first floor of the New Block building. The department has one spacious staff room and a well-equipped language lab. The department is also bestowed with modern facilities like Edusat and smart classroom. There are about 3500 books based on various topics of English language and literature available in the library.
